PERFORMING WITH SNAKES
Serpentessa dances at a variety of
venues including cultural events, theatres, night clubs
and children's events as well as private parties and salons,
weddings and corporate functions. Her Serpents are very
gentle and good natured around multitudes of people and
occasions because she considers them as an equal if silent
dance partner/collaborator. They have never been a prop
and never will be!! (For more info see section on Personal

on site.)
For cultural events, theatres, children's events, Serpentessa
is hired to choreograph and dance with a specific theme
or concept that highlights the occasion. For example,
a Casbah theme may feature the snake or snakes emerging
from a basket while a Neo-Celtic Beltane event might feature
her dancing with a snake on a framed hoop. With children,
Serpentessa dances interactively with them and the Serpents.
Her most recent collaboration in theatre was in Jehan's
Goddessdance which featured her dancing as a Snake Priestess
(a Serpentess) in the temple. This Off-Broadway show was
quoted as a "Middle Eastern Riverdance" by the
Village Voice and will be reopening imminently.
Corporate functions, weddings, private parties and salons
generally feature the standard cabaret routine slightly
altered to accommodate a costume change and entrance piece
for the Serpents. Included is some time to meet and greet
the Snake, always a popular pastime.
READING THE AUDIENCE
There is always a powerful response to the Serpent. Reading
peoples' body language and respecting individuals' boundaries
during an experience with her snakes is a vital part of
the path of Serpentessa. She does it exceedingly well
incorporating the many varied powerful responses into
a mutual dialogue of the senses that weaves the universal
and the personal realms together into an enjoyable memorable
experience.
